Jacques - Good Pâtisserie in Fukuoka!
Jacques ジャック 大濠店
One of the good pâtisseries in Fukuoka for our foodie list; Jacques is also one of the last food places we visited in Fukuoka and our entire 2019 Japan trip.
Marie-Antoinette (¥560)
Let’s start with our favourite out of the 3 we ordered!
Just to say, very apt naming for the cake with the great use of fruits and a good level of details and elegant aesthetic for the decorating part.
It has a fresh sweet taste that comes from the fruits, jam layer, biscuit base, milk, and vanilla. Together with all these ingredients and layers, it does provide quite a bit of harmonious balance.
Texture-wise, there is a variety, or should I say different layers or spectrum of softness to hardness, from the softest starting with cream, jelly, jam, fruits, to biscuit for the hardest.
Overall, this mousse (I believe?) has a good fresh sweet taste and the bite in will provide you with a different spectrum of softness to hardness texture.
Rating: 3.5/5
Tiramisu Orange (¥520)
Tiramisu Orange is an interesting unique fruity take on the traditional tiramisu.
Taste-wise, the top layer will be the fresh orange fruit jam (marmalade) which has a sweet, citrusy, and zesty taste to it. The tiramisu layer will be the traditional coffee, cocoa powder, and with a subtle alcoholic taste. Combined both together, the orange citrusy zest makes it even easier to eat (lighter in taste) and appetizing dessert.
For the texture, it is moist and me in your mouth soft. Layers from the top to bottom: Fresh jam (marmalade), cream, and tiramisu.
Overall, this interesting unique take does work well. But nothing outstanding but also nothing to nitpick at.

Flan de Marron (¥540)
As it is the season for chestnut, so we will always choose something with chestnut whenever we go to a pâtisserie.
In short, a cake that is made up of chestnut, cream, eggs, and milk. (This purely based on what we think, we are not experienced and that knowledgeable yet haha!)
As mentioned earlier, chestnut is in season, so it’s ripe and full of rich and nutty flavours.
Overall, this flan is rich and bold in flavour, a good choice to pair with tea to get a good balance.
Rating: 3.25/5
Overall
Jacques is a good choice for pâtisserie in Fukuoka, though there’s still a couple of good ones in our list for Fukuoka that we have not tried yet to see which is the best in the area.
The in-cafe seating is quite limited since it is just using a small area of their shop only. So something to note if you are coming in with a big group. And one of the cons are, it is mandatory to get at least 1 drink per person, even if you are already getting say 2 or 3 cakes per person.
