Burger & Lobster - Jewel Changi Airport
Burger & Lobster
Burger & Lobster surely doesn’t need any introduction, and we finally made it to B&L Jewel Changi Airport after a couple of times of postponements (CB and Phase 2 HA)!
We have been anticipating this trip for a long time, so how will this super hype restaurant from London fare?
Original Lobster Roll with Fries & Salad (S$34)
Chilled lobster meat dressed in Japanese mayo and lemon. Served with a lemon & garlic butter sauce in our signature toasted brioche roll.
On our maiden trip to B&L, we definitely have to try their signature Lobster Roll, thus we both got a set each!
On my first bite in, it does indeed taste as good as you see, and really lives up to the hype.
The lobster meat is fresh, juicy, sweet, and have a nice succulent bite to it. One can really taste the freshness and brininess of the lobster in a good way.
Sandwich between their toasted brioche, Japanese mayo marinated and lemon squeezed over it; each bite is a delightful bite of nicely toasted buttery bread and wonderful chunks of lobster meat.
For our next bite, we drenched the roll with the lemon & garlic butter sauce. It adds a more savoury take and with a softer bread to it.
To me, I can eat both with our without the lemon & garlic butter sauce.
Without: Can feel more of the natural subtle sweetness and brininess of the lobster, and also more crunch of the bread.
With: It adds a more savoury / stronger take to it from the garlic and butter, and also a softer bun due to the sauce. But it definitely will cut down on the natural sweetness and brininess of the lobster.
This boils down to a personal preference, both ways are good. I personally prefer without the sauce, but my wife prefers it with the sauce.
Onto the sides of fries and salad, they are decent but I feel does not stand together (in level) with the lobster roll. To me, at least if they use freshly made thick hand-cut fries to go with it that will be good.
I will say not worth buying them ala carte (+S$5 each), but for a set meal (+S$6) it is up to you.
For our future trips, we will definitely just buy the Original Lobster Roll ala carte at S$28.

Lobster Tail Lollipops (S$12 for 1, S$22 for 2)
Disclaimer: Because we ate the main course first and with the savoury lemon & garlic butter sauce overpowering, we can’t really taste the full feeling of the lighter/subtle notes of the lobster tail lollipop. So we will describe at best what we experienced.
SEAWEED BUTTER LOBSTER TAIL LOLLIPOP
Steamed Nova Scotia Lobster Tail coated with umami rich infused seaweed butter.
CILANTRO LIME MAYONNAISE LOBSTER TAIL LOLLIPOP
Steamed Nova Scotia Lobster Tail served alongside a refreshing zesty mayonnaise.
We will do a combined write up on this as per the disclaimer above.
The lobster maintains the same good quality as those chunks in the original lobster roll; fresh, sweet, brininess, succulent, and with a firm bite off the meat.
Do eat this before you eat the Original Lobster Roll (if you intend to pour the lemon & garlic sauce over it).
We hope this Lobster Tail Lollipops will be a mainstay in their menu and not just a limited time only. Cause we will definitely be getting 2 each on top of an Original Lobster Roll each on our next visit.

Menu*
The menu is also digital even when you dined in, probably due to the COVID situation. When we are seated, the waiting staff will inform us to scan the QR code on the table which will then redirect us to B&L site’s menu.
Else you can visit this link for the digital menu, though the link might break whenever they refresh the menu.
*Menu as of 11 July 2021.
Overall
As per our above reviews, just based on the 2 dishes we ordered, it definitely lives up to the hype (excluding the add-on sides).
The service is friendly and responsive, the ambience is casual and if you are sitting near the edge (like we are) you can overlook Jewel while eating.
Just that it does hurts our wallet at around $105 for 2 people. Makes no mistake we do love the food, but the cost will restrict us from dining here more often.
