Heigoro Pâtisserie - Great Pâtisserie in Nagano!
Heigoro Pâtisserie
One of the most famous pâtisserie in Nagano based on my research on Tabelog. So we decided to go for it after our morning sightseeing trip to Zenkoji Temple which is actually quite nearby.
Obuse Mont Blanc (¥600)
Obuse Chestnut is in season during our time of visit, plus it is also one of the local produce in Nagano, so definitely not missing it!
The exterior of the cake is the chestnut puree (the spaghetti lookalike)
The top part of the interior has the light cream texture (meringue?) when eat together with the puree
The bottom part of the interior has the actual chestnut with a nice bite (not too hard or soft) with a thin layer of sugar crust covering the chestnut
Finally at the last layer is also a thin layer of sugar
Overall, you can feel the sweetness (a bit too sweet for me) but it blends well together.

Shine Muscat Shortcake (¥480)
Also another local produce in season during our visit, Nagano Shine Muscat grape!
The shine muscat shortcake is airy, light, creamy, and has a very natural sweetness from the shine muscat grape and smoothness from the fresh cream.
Overall, it is as above mentioned but really got elevated with the nice local produce shine muscat grape to bring in the natural sweetness and bite in a light fluffy cake. Although I thought it is a touch too fluffy in structure context, as you can see the photo after one slice with the fork. But wife told me it is supposed to be this way for such cakes.
My wife’s favourite from this eating session.

Cacao Hunters Arhuaco 72% Chocolate (¥450)
Definitely one for the chocolate lover, pure, thick and heavy chocolate taste.
Taste is definitely there, but I feel it might be a bit too one dimensional or too jelak after eating this.
Rating: 3/5
Chocolate Éclair (¥430)
On first sight, you can already see a variety of texture on the Éclair:
Crunchy choux
Hard sliced chocolate
Almond
Light and smooth chocolate cream
So when you bite all of it, you will get the soft, crunchy, hard, and smooth chocolate cream. It’s a nice variety of taste and texture.
Although initially we wanted to get the Obuse Chestnut Éclair, but it wasn’t ready yet (as we went at the opening time of the shop). So we tried this instead.

Cappuccino
To start off in case you are wondering why I did not input the price, because I don’t know how much it costs a la carte. As we bought 2 cake sets out of the 4 cakes we ordered, 1 cake set costs ¥900 for a cup of coffee and a slice of cake.
It was a decent and standard cup of cappuccino, passable but nothing to shout at. You’re not here for the coffee at a pâtisserie.
Rating: 3/5
Other than their cakes, you can also buy their wide choices of confectionery for takeaways.
Overall
It is really quite a good pâtisserie shop, and also a nice place to rest after a visit to Zenkoji Temple or any nearby sights.
Too bad during our visit we can’t enjoy our time there, because we are rushing to both eat and take photos for this post. As we need to rush back to our hotel to check out and catch the Shinkansen to Kanazawa city (which is the next destination of our trip).
Hope the next time we visit Heigoro it will be at a more enjoyable pace and schedule.
