Yamasan Sushi - Fresh and nicely presented Kaisendon at affordable price!
Yamasan Sushi
One of the popular restaurants for Kaisendon in Kanazawa’s Omicho Market, either for its attractive pricing or photos of the nice presentation you can find online easily.
Another good point that swings our way is that it opens early in the morning (7.30am), which makes it a very attractive option for us, so we have more time for exploring the city after breakfast!
Kaisendon (¥3000)
On the first impression, presentation is definitely nice (and insta-worthy)!
I didn’t count how many different types of sashimi/cuts there is in this Kaisendon, but according to their website, they use 18 different varieties for this bowl of seafood goodness!
Now onto the review!
The sashimi is really fresh, as it should be right from the Sea of Japan! (Kanazawa is along the coast of Sea of Japan)
Lots of varieties to try in one bowl, from fish, shrimp, roe, sea urchin, scallop, crab, squid, eel
Affordable price for the quality and quantity
Rating: 3.5/5
Don’t worry, this restaurant has around 30 seats based on their website, so if you come around 15 minutes in advance you should be able to get in as the first batch.
Overall
I would recommend people who are visiting Kanazawa and also like sashimi to try out this place. The Kaisendon has lots of varieties, good and fresh quality, decent quantity, and price point makes this a good value.
They are conveniently located in Omicho Market which is also a sightseeing spot for most people, and the exact spot is just right at one of the entrances to the Omicho Market.
